AND / OR / NOT · 空格 = 都要有 (space = all of them)； | = 任一即可 (either)； - = 排除 (exclude)； "…" = 整体一项 (one term)。 都在同一页上判定 — all judged within the same page.

简繁异体通搜 · 输入 银行 可命中原件里的「銀行」。 Simplified and traditional forms match each other automatically.
中文按二字滑窗匹配（非子串）：三字以上的词组是「各二字段都出现在同一页」， 可能比原样出现略宽。English is matched by whole word, case-insensitive. Chinese is matched by overlapping bigrams, not substrings, so phrases of 3+ characters can match slightly more loosely than an exact string search.

影响检索结果的内部设置 Internal settings affecting results（明示 disclosed）：
① 英文按整词匹配、不分大小写 · English matched as whole words, case-insensitive.
② 中文按归一化二字滑窗（简繁异体互搜）；三字以上词组会逐页核对原文 · Chinese matched by normalized overlapping bigrams; phrases of 3+ chars are verified against page text.
③ 停用词 Stop words：出现在 40% 以上页面的词不建索引，共 35 个。 这批档案每页都印着「上海公共租界工部局警务处 / Shanghai Municipal Police」抬头， 所以 上海 租界 工部 警务 police shanghai municipal 以及 the/of/a/to 都在其中。 查询里出现这类词时自动跳过该项、用其余词判定，并在结果上方明确列出跳过了什么； 整条查询只有停用词时结果为空，请再加一个别的词。 The 35 tokens on >40% of pages are not indexed — including the letterhead words. Such terms are skipped (and listed above the results) rather than silently returning nothing.
④ 中文单字全部建索引，可单独检索 · all single Chinese characters are indexed and searchable alone.
⑤ 正文检索仅覆盖已转录部分；标题检索覆盖全库（含未转录卷宗） · body search covers transcribed pages only; title search covers the whole catalogue.

⑦ 结果每页 50 件分页呈现，只是分页、不是上限——所有命中都在，翻页即可，件数与页数都写在分页器上。为避免全库规模下卡死，摘要只为当前页这 50 件载入。Results are paginated at 50 files per page — pagination, not a cap; snippets load for the current page only.
⑧ 年份筛选：年份抽自转录正文（题名年份权重更高），约 91.7% 的卷宗有标签。 留出题名做独立参照实测：约 85% 完全吻合、88% 相差不超过一年。 是线索不是事实；没有标签的卷宗一旦启用年份筛选就会被整体排除，筛选后会明示排除了多少件。 Years are extracted from the transcribed text; ~91.7% of files carry a tag. A finding aid, not a fact — untagged files drop out whenever a year filter is on.
⑨ 单件命中超过 43 页时，其余页码默认收起（点开仍全部列出）。Per-file page lists collapse beyond ~43 hits; all remain listed when expanded.
